Hello everyone, and welcome to Digital Roadmap: An Old School Gaming Podcast.
I want to thank you all for listening and wanting to now more about the show by coming to the site. Let me take a chance to share one of my earliest memories of PC gaming with you.
That title card is from the Commodore Amiga game Death Sword. It’s a primitive fighting game played with a one button joystick.
Now it’s been years since I’ve looked at this game, decades since I’ve played it, but a few key things stick out.
- If you decapitate your opponent, a goblin will kick the head off screen.
- If you wait long enough without either player doing anything, they’ll turn to the screen and say “C’mon”
- My parents found both of these things hilarious.
- This started my love for PC games over consoles.
I’ll be posting more of these memory snippets over the next few weeks so keep an eye out.
